Something For The Weekend – 15 Minute Face

Something For The Weekend – 15 Minute Face

I thought I would kick off 2015’s “Something for The Weekend” series with one of my most used looks. This is “15 Minute Face”.  I pretty much do this on a daily basis when I’m doing the school run, maybe with a slight variation on the eyeshadow and lip colours.

It’s a great look to do if you’re short on time; for example if you have to go shopping at the weekend and just want something simple and effective face wise.  The look can be edited depending on how much time you have, and I will mention these as we progress through the look.

Products used for this look (all products from Makeup Revolution unless stated otherwise):

I apply concealer under my foundation. I use the darker colour around my eyes to minimize dark circles and the lighter one on any red areas.

Apply a small amount of foundation over the face. It is better to start with a little and gradually build up, rather than have too much to start with and end up in a mess. ***PRO TIP: This foundation blends really nicely if you use your fingers and it will help to save you a little bit of time.

When you are happy with your foundation & concealer coverage, apply a thin layer of powder to help set everything in place
After you have applied your powder apply a wash of blush over the apples of your cheeks and stroke out towards the hairline. ***PRO TIP: Using the same brush as you used for your powder can help save time later when cleaning brushes.

Using a flat eyeshadow brush, push a light shimmer colour over the eyelid, to meet the contour colour that you have just applied. ***PRO TIP: If your lid shade is light enough, you can also apply it to the inner corner of the eye to really brighten up the look.

This is the stage where I do my eyebrows. Obviously skip this step if you have full brows.
Using a light shade (can be either matte or shimmer), use a small brush to pat this under the eyebrow. This will lift and brighten the look, as well as defining your eyebrow, making your eyes appear bigger.

Depending on how much time you have, this is where I may line the lower lashes with a khol pencil and smudge it in with my finger. I may also line the upper lashes too.
Apply 1 or 2 coats of your favourite mascara. You could, of course, apply false eyelashes at this stage if you had the time.
To finish the look, apply your favourite lipstick or gloss.
Set it all in place with a light misting of fixing spray
